The NordicTrack X14i  is in the Commercial - Incline - Treadmill category at NordicTrack. This is why it is one of their more expensive treadmills.

It's good to know a little about what categories each brand has and what the categories represent.

WIth NordicTrack, their "Commercial" category are the more heavy duty treadmills and the steep Incline models are in their "Incline Treadmill" category (which they used to call Incline Trainers).

What this all means is that this is a more heavy duty treadmill with steep incline and even decline features - Which also means it is going to be a much more expensive treadmill.

OK, so now that we know the reasons that this treadmill costs more, let's review some of the benefits that you get.

SInce the steep incline can have a shorter and more intense workout , you can reduce the impact on your knees, ankles, back and everything else. On top of that  you get more variety in your routine and a more realistic run or walk (or climb).

Then on top of that, since this treadmill is from NordicTrack you also get all of the latest iFit Training, Motivational and Entertainment features which makes this a really nice treadmill.

When you compare the NordicTrack line-up of Incline Trainers you will see that, as the price goes up, the most significant differences are that you get a more powerful motor and larger screens with each step up.

The NordicTrack X14i has plenty of power, with the 3.75 CHP motor, and you get a 14 inch screen.

In addition to the more intense workout you also get more variety and the ability to workout more muscle groups. Whether you want to call it an Incline Trainer or a Treadmill, the NordicTrack X14i gives you a better workout with more variety, entertainment and motivational features than any other traditional treadmill.

Key Features of the NordicTrack X14i Incline Trainer

Incline and Decline - The key feature of any Incline Trainer is the ability to set a steep incline and the X14i inclines up to 40% and declines up to 6% for a more intense and realistic workout.

3.75 CHP Motor - The X14i has plenty of continuous horsepower to handle even heavier users at the full 40% incline. Could 3 horses pull you up a 40% incline (assuming that the CHP unit of measure translates accurately to the real world analogy)?

The commercial grade Reinforced Steel Frame has been designed to handle runners up to 300 lbs at the incline levels provided.

Then on the technology side of things you have the 14 inch Smart HD Touchscreen and iFit technology built in to the machine. You also get a free 1 year subscription to iFit with the purchase of the treadmill.

Most treadmills have an incline feature, often up to 12%. Nordic Commercial series Treadmills (not the including Incline models) incline up to 15% and decline up to 3% and cost much less.

The Incline Treadmills that NordicTrack offers are really for more intense workouts, workouts in less time or for working out more muscle groups, They are also more heavy duty with stronger motors but they are more expensive.

If you are looking for the features described above and have decided on an incline treadmill (a treadmill with over 15% incline) then the NT Commercial X14i is a good choice and if the lowest priced NordicTrack Incline Treadmill model.

Although NordicTrack calls this model, as well as many of their other models "Commercial", keep in mind that, although they are more heavy-duty than the other models, they are not truly commercial-grade treadmills. I consider them more of a light commercial-grade model.

The motivational and entertainment value of the iFit technology is truly a key feature of this treadmill (as with most other NordicTrack treadmills) and should not be overlooked.

Fitness Apps have become really popular these days for motivation, entertainment and variety and the iFit app is one of the best Fitness Apps available especially when it comes built-in to your machine.

This is an advantage for NordicTrack products since iFit has been around for many years now and has only been improving over the years.

Also, when iFit is built-in to your Treadmill, as it is with the X14i Incline Treadmill, the app can control your incline, decline and speed for a more realistic and hands-free workout. Of course, you can override this option if you choose and if you do not want to pay for the iFit option in the future, the machine works just fine with many built-in workouts too (and you sill have the advanced console screen and all of the other electronic options available).

Therefore, I have found the NordicTrack Commercial X14i to be a good choice for those who are looking for the features and benefits described above and are willing to pay a little more for them.
